CC-Columbia scholars observing if a glove filled with solid ice will melt.
We discovered that when we have a solid it can melt and turn into a liquid.  If we have a liquid and add heat, it will turn into a gas.- Mikiah and Taylor

When we freeze a liquid, it will turn into a solid.-Omari

One example is orange or apple juice.  We can freeze that into a solid.- Dane

We learned that when you blow up a balloon you are filling it with gas.- Anthony

One example of a liquid is milk.- Bryce

One example of a solid is the closet.- Brandon

The air conditioner is a solid, but the air that comes out is a gas.- Daelen

Solids have a definite shape, but gas and liquid have an indefinite shape.- Shawron

Definite shape means that is has its own shape.- William

An indefinite shape doesn't have its own shape.  It has the shape of the container.- Jaden

Gas, like air, fills up the whole room.- Jordan

Molecules can make a solid, liquid, or gas.- Mischa and Julius

Molecules are different.  The molecules in a solid squeeze together, in a liquid they have a little space, and in gas they have a lot of space.- Adriel

Leave us your answer in the comments section: Can you name something that is a solid, liquid, or gas?

We have to add heat. We could put in out in the desert or outside. Inside, you could put the ice on the stove.

An example of a solid is a wall. An example of a liquid is the ocean. an example of a gas is oxygen.

That is true because if you put water in the freezer it will be a solid and if you heat it up it will be a gas Shawron!

Hi CC-Columbia thank you for sharing so much important information about the different states of matter. I have a question I need your help with: Which state of matter is the most common state of matter visible in the Universe? Ms.Pantin

We did research and on Earth liquid is the most common matter. In the universe, it is plasma but we haven't studied that yet!

A soccer ball is a solid.
Inside the soccer is a gas.

Great work CC/Columbia!

CC-Columbia you made some great discoveries! I know that water can be a solid, liquid, or gas depending on what you do to it!!

Thank you Ms. Giller because we have been experimenting how to heat a liquid and also how gas is steam!

Great questions! I L-O-V-E all the great questions and full sentences! Maybe if I earn a time-in I can come visit CC/Columbia in science! Keep up the good work CC/Columbians.

Beyond Z Question:
Ms. Giller said that water can be a solid, liquid, or gas. I know water is solid when it is ice, but how can I turn water into a gas??

When you make water hotter it will turn into steam. If you put water somewhere hot like on a stove it will be a gas. Thank you Mr. Hancock for giving us that information!
